TRACK DAY HPDE - FAQ WHAT IS HPDE?

HPDE stands for High Performance Driving Event. It is a chance to drive your car on a racetrack in a safe and controlled environment away from the risks present on the street. CTAC x GRIDLIFE is a beginner oriented track day and we have some of the best instructors and classroom sessions to help make anyone feel at home on the track.

WHAT HPDE GROUP DO I BELONG IN?

If you have never been on a road course before, even if you have drag raced, auto crossed or are "fast on the backroads" you belong in beginner. Drivers that have done 5+ HPDE or similar events at road courses should choose Intermediate. Drivers comfortable with open passing or have comp licenses or advanced driver trained should choose advanced. Any questions as to what group you belong in can be sent to info@RaceCTAC.ca

WHAT KIND OF CAR DO I NEED TO DRIVE?

Any safe and well maintained vehicle is all you need to have a great weekend at CTAC x GRIDLIFE. Even non-sports type cars on regular street tires are welcome and encouraged to bring on track. Minivans, trucks and Non-Performance Suv's however, are not permitted.

I HAVE A CONVERTIBLE DO I NEED A ROLL BAR?

Yes. All convertibles must have a roll bar that is able to withstand the weight of the vehicle. A factory roll bar such as that found on an s2000 is acceptable provided it passes a broomstick test. Style bars or show bars such as those found on some Miatas are not acceptable. If you have any questions about your car, contact us at info@RaceCTAC.ca

 WHAT IF IT RAINS?

CTAC is an outdoor event and therefore rain is a possibility. We run on the track rain or shine. No refunds are given due to the weather.

ARE OTHER CARS ON THE TRACK WITH ME?

Yes, but HPDE is not racing. Passing is only allowed in passing zones (straights) and passing is only allowed by point by. Meaning no car will ever pass you without you knowing and approving.

HOW MANY TIMES TO I GET TO GO ON TRACK?

Typically, all HPDE Drivers will get typically no less than 8+ sessions throughout the weekend.  Beginners can expect to get approx 8+ sessions. Sessions are typically 20 minutes long and include a warm up and cool down lap.

 DO I NEED A HELMET?

Yes, you will need a SNELL SA2015 or newer helmet to participate in any on-track activities. SNELL SA2015 is strongly recommended. Some tracks do offer helmet rental, but not all of them so we always recommend bringing your own!

 WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Long pants & closed toed shoes are required for all on-track participants. No jellies, birks, crocs etc. Short sleeve shirts are allowed. Eye protection is recommended.

HOW SHOULD I PREP MY CAR?

Essentially, all you need to run at CTAC is a safe and well maintained vehicle. As the event approaches we will release a tech checklist for you to complete covering basic safety functions and items on your car. When on track, you must have all items removed from the vehicle. No loose change, car chargers, gym bags, etc.
